The book launch for Links to Your Happiness was such a happy day. Quite a few books of all types were sold and I hope the guild raised sufficient funds to emerge with a profit.
We absolutely loved the program and each performer was a real treat to listen to. Vivienne, the Guild president, gave a warm welcome to the audience. It was great to be back in that room among storytellers. Catching up with all those very special people who had come long distances to be there, was a joy.
A young Maori man, Stanley Cribb, sang a bracket of three songs. What a great voice he has and what a future he has ahead of him, if he treats it kindly! The final song, Po Kare Ana brought tears to both Ken's and my eyes - tears of joy. It's quite some time since we've heard it sung properly and we'll treasure the experience.
Donna Sife, a world-renowned Jewish storyteller, was wonderful and it was good to meet up with her again and see her perform. She claims the room and wraps the audience round her - so very inclusive and a great performer. You could have heard a pin drop.
I loved Helen Reddy's introduction and her story. What a lovely person she is - very normal and practical and a good storyteller too! It was obvious she'd read and enjoyed the book. It was a pity I didn't get time to chat with her. I'm sure the Guild will flourish with Helen Reddy, as Patron - so much better than the previous one.
I blessed the lass, who managed the book sales, leaving me free to sign books and answer queries, etc. So many people wanted to talk. The catering was lovely and the whole day was a great success. It has left me with some wonderful memories and given the book a great start. I've even had some great feedback on it.
